I propose that i should find the time to continue with this project, or even system, that i have become so obsessed with.
In the last 2 months i have found two ceramists that would possibly be interested in in exploring my brief set for my chicken bone porcelain.
I often find myself noticing the chicken bones lying in the street and have an urge to pick them up. I know it wouldn’t be socialy aceptable but what if i had gloves and a bag to collect them in? would that be better?
i need to find a way to collect this waste in a more efficient maner and one that wouldn’t effect, in the way of adding to,the natural habit of eating the fried chicken.
Tonight i was temped to get fried chicken (i have given up buying meat and eating it when possible)

SiFi thought experiments?
I found this while looking at reviews on Biggini’s book. I enjoyed this idea of a SiFi take on things…
Sunday, December 12, 2010Synopsis - Brian has an accident and only his brain survives. Unable to find a suitable donor body, doctors then hook Brian’s brain to a supercomputer that feeds him sufficient stimuli that ‘Brian’ can now live his life ‘normally’ as his brain perceives. But is he really living or are any of us?
Isn’t this basis of the Matrix movies?(I wrote that before reading Baggini’s thoughts on the matter.) And what he writes about a 90% chance that we could be in a fake environment is indeed startling.
Perhaps atheists would use this argument to explain that miracles are merely the deeds of a supercomputer, sort of like the larger-than-life animations we see in the movies. These illusions would be an experiment by some puppet master. Thinking about it makes it kinda cool but at the same it makes us sad guinea pigs at the mercy of a higher being that sits in front of a computer.
I read a science fiction story when I was 11 about how God came into being. He was a kid who had special abilities and was groomed by similar others when his abilities manifested. He was later told to create life and be in charge all that went on in that experimental realm. The kid’s name was G O Dextrium.
Another story I read had the solar system in a terrarium-like lab environment. It took large biblical events and reduced each to experimental intervention e.g. the great flood happened because a scientist accidentally spilled water on the terrarium. So on and so forth.
I can only conclude that if indeed we are controlled by a computer, wow, the programming must be awesome.
There’s little room to really argue any defence for or against this idea. Already most of the planet already believes in some form of higher being to explain the universe’s existence. The rest of us just simply take it one day at a time.
Chicken bones & coffee cups
Taking this into a developing future…
Even though we have reached the deadline on this project I still feel that i can take this project further and would like to do so in the future.
Through this research and exploration of the idea of using chicken bones/ animal detritus i have realised that there is really is a future for reusing animal bio-waste. Creating materials out of other people’s waste is has become some what of a personal interest that i have uncovered through out these weeks.
In the first week of the project i started to focus on the idea of developing a system to create a 100% transparency awareness of the materials used to make a cup that the coffee is served in. Starting from the fried chicken shops and the left over chicken bones to the method and system that the cups are made and produced within a space. I was hoping to re-create a space in which the consumer can see and understand this process. I feel, given more time, i would have been able to do more and a broader research which could helped form a better understanding of the relationship between the fried chicken take away culture and the culture of having a social coffee in a coffee house/shop and the social class structures that lay behind these activities. There is a very interesting relationship between the “middle working class” and their consumption of fried chicken, which in turn could provide the materials for the “upper class’s” social activities of drinking coffee.
